“Salt Lake Community College’s Composites Technician Training Program offers specialized, short-term instruction tailored to Utah’s high-growth advanced manufacturing sectors. With support from Talent Ready Utah’s Utah Works initiative, the program equips new and early-career employees with critical hands-on skills for working with composite materials—skills that are essential to fabricating lightweight, high-performance components used in aerospace, medical, and automotive manufacturing.
The program includes multiple 24-hour modules focused on different composites manufacturing methods, including pre-preg layup, wet layup, vacuum infusion, and filament winding. Training is delivered in flexible formats and co-designed with leading employers like Albany Engineered Composites and Kihomac, who also commit to interviewing and hiring program completers. This model enables employers to rapidly onboard talent for precision roles while maintaining high quality and production standards.”
