Resources

Various funding resources can help employers fill their talent pipeline through these innovative programs.

Utah Works

The Utah Works Program grant drives partnerships between businesses and educational institutions to create short-term new hire training programs to address high-demand company-identified workforce gaps. Funding is used in collaboration with cost-sharing efforts from the partners to:

  • Create training curriculum, procure tools and training resources
  • Reimburse tuition and faculty salaries
  • Support program marketing, and
  • Fund other efforts that directly support the training program requirements.

Strategic Workforce Investment

During the 2016 legislative session, the Utah State Legislature created the Strategic Workforce Investment (SWI) fund. This fund aims to provide resources to establish educational pathway partnerships that serve regional and statewide industry workforce needs.

These pathway programs provide a workforce for high growth and wage occupations. The application period opens in September, and applications are due at the beginning of January. Here is the call for proposal document from the 2021 SWI Proposal Round.
